Introducing Miss Samantha Fownes
Miss Samantha Fownes (Miss Sam) is one of our friendly tutorial teachers and our Marketing and Social Media person.
Sammie was first introduced to music at the age of 9 when she joined her primary school band program, learning the clarinet and piano. Although she was a late starter, she quickly caught up to her peers and sought out extra tuition outside of school. Sammie continued her musical journey in high school where she started learning alto saxophone. During high school, she enjoyed playing in a range of school productions such as Grease, Annie, and Beauty and the Beast, as lead woodwind. She also played in the Campbelltown Camden District Band, and more recently the South West Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sammie has previously competed in multiple solo competitions including the Sydney Metropolitan Band Branch and NSW state solo championship with 2nd place titles in her division for both. She has also completed her grade 8 AMEB clarinet exam and is currently completing her Bachelor of Communications and Media.
In recent times Sammie has chosen to focus her efforts into teaching the next generation of musicians and pursuing her interest in media. She loves sharing her passion for music and showing kids how much fun and rewarding learning an instrument can be- even if not pursued professionally.
