Introducing Mr Tom Walsh
Mr Tom Walsh is one of our fun band tutors (and saxophone wizard)
Originally from Port Macquarie, Tom picked up the saxophone at age thirteen and quickly developed a keen passion for the instrument. Playing in a variety of high school and local bands saw a love for jazz music and improvisation quickly develop.
Tom completed a Bachelor of Music majoring in jazz performance at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2017, graduating with first class honours. This provided an opportunity to be mentored by some of the finest saxophonists in Australia and abroad, including: John and Carl Mackey, Graeme Lyall, Jamie Oehlers and Chase Baird.
He has since relocated to Sydney and is currently undertaking Post Graduate studies at the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music, focusing on contemporary jazz improvisation. Tom can be heard playing a wide variety of material ranging from swinging standards to complex and intricate original jazz compositions.
Tom is also passionate about educating and inspiring musicians of all ages and abilities to find their own interests with music.
